Haddon Township Broken Dental Crown — Can It Be Fixed?
Do you wear dental crowns? Well, remember that I have a dental clinic in Haddon Township. So please come to me if your dental crowns suddenly break or crack.
Crowns have been known to break. The high quality ones you get at my Haddon Township dental crown practice could last many years. You could get as long as 15 years out of them. Sometimes longer. Sometimes shorter.
There are some really strong crowns being manufactured in modern times. But they may need to be changed sooner than you expect if you put your teeth through a lot of tough workouts. Do you grind your teeth at night? This causes problems for crowns. Lots of people grind although they are unaware of it.
And you get others who chew aggressively when they eat, or crack a few of their teeth on ice.
When a dental crown cracks, it is almost always because of the porcelain. Or at least the part of the crown made from ceramic. If you have gold or metal alloys, you are unlikely to see fractures on them because they are very adaptable to the powerful forces exerted by your jaw muscles.
As a result, these kinds of materials are the best for backing up your dental crowns.
While effective, gold and metal are not that aesthetically pleasing. By mixing in porcelain with the metal crown, we can make it look nice. But to make it even nicer, use a crown made entirely of ceramic. These types of crowns, though, are more breakable.
The thing with porcelain dental crowns is that you can fool people. They look real because of its smooth surface and color. But ceramic is more delicate. They won't be able to take the pressure of your jaw muscles each time you crunch your teeth, either from chewing or grinding.
Also, porcelain's fragility makes it so that it takes only one crack for the damage to spread.
Once you have a broken all-ceramic crown, you need to replace it with a new one. Broken crowns don't look good at all. Not only that, the damage might eventually result in infection. If nothing is done soon, we may have more than crown problems. We may need to restore your whole tooth. And you may be forced to have a dental implant.
I'm always there to help you out. If you are near us and want us to treat a broken Haddon Township dental crown, I hope you get to my office and allow myself and my excellent team to give you the best possible treatment.
